Elderly Marilla Cuthbert and her brother, Matthew, decide to adopt an orphan boy to help them on their farm. Instead they get 11-year-old Anne Shirley, an orphan girl who can't stop talking and who is delighted at the opportunity to be part of a real family. Matthew and Marilla haven't the heart to tell Anne that there's been a mistake, so she stays. Life for Matthew and Marilla will never be the same again!
